Workshop Overview

Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) and IBM have teamed to bring the next generation of the IBM Blue Gene/P supercomputer to the National Center for Computational Sciences (NCCS). The Blue Gene/P system configuration, with 8,192 compute cores, will provide more than 27 teraflops of computing capability.

This new system has completed acceptance testing and will enter production in October 2007. The NCCS and IBM are presenting a 1-day workshop to provide an introduction to the IBM Blue Gene/P computing environment, describe the policies associated with obtaining access to the system, and demonstrate the features unique to this system that facilitate productive science.

The workshop will be held on October 31, 2007, at the American Museum of Science and Energy, in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. Registration is required. There is no registration fee.

The workshop will be led by Kirk Jordan of IBM’s Deep Computing Emerging Solution Executive team.
